Xteq Systems X-Setup - System Check Failed _____________________________________________________ PREFACE First of all, we are sorry that you have problems with Xteq X-Setup. X-Setup uses only system components that are included in ANY Windows edition since Windows 98. However, since there are millions of possible configurations, we have create this check so you can be sure that X-Setup works the way you expect it. If we wouldn't perform this check on start-up, you possible would see "strange" effects when using X-Setup. _____________________________________________________ COMPONENTS The easiest way to get all components for X-Setup is to perform a full install of Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or upward. Microsoft Internet Explorer can be downloaded for free from http://www.microsoft.com/ie/ If you prefer to not have Internet Explorer installed, this isn't a problem. All the components you need are also available on a standalone bases so you can use X-Setup without Internet Explorer. _____________________________________________________ - Step 1.1 - The file "Riched20.dll" in your \system folder is missing. It is included in any Windows Edition since Windows 98. It is also included with many applications, for example with the free "Microsoft Word 97 Viewer". You can download this viewer from http://office.microsoft.com/downloads/9798/wd97vwr32.aspx (File name is wd97vwr32.exe) _____________________________________________________ - Step 1.2 - This step should never pop up. If so, please contact us at info@xteq.com _____________________________________________________ - Step 1.3 - The HTML Help engine was not found. HTML Help is included in any modern application for Windows 2000 but you can also download it from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/release.asp?ReleaseID=30328 _____________________________________________________ - Step 2.1 - - Step 2.2 - - Step 2.3 - - Step 2.4 - - Step 3.1 - The noted BPL file is missing. It is included with SETUP.EXE of X-Setup, so simply reinstall X-Setup to get this file again. If the error persists after a fresh install, delete the folder where you installed X-Setup (e.g. C:\Program Files\X-Setup) using Windows Explorer and re-install again. In some very rare cases this file is locked so SETUP.EXE can't overwrite the existing file with a new version. _____________________________________________________ - Step 3.2 - The file MSScript.OCX is missing or not properly registered. SETUP.EXE should copy this file and register it. First try to use SETUP.EXE again. If this is of no help, go to the path where you have X-Setup installed, open the "bin" folder and double-click the file "XQXSetupCompReg.exe" (you should notice it directly - it has a black chip as icon). When started, you should see some "Registration success" messages. _____________________________________________________ - Step 3.3 - If this check failed, it means that the script language "VBScript" is not installed on your system. Simply download the Microsoft Scripting Engine which included VBScript by default: http://www.microsoft.com/msdownload/vbscript/scripting.asp _____________________________________________________ - Step 4.1 - - Step 4.2 - The core components for X-Setup cannot be found. Only possible solution: re-run SETUP.EXE again. If this is of no help, go to the path where you have X-Setup installed, open the "bin" folder and double-click the file "XQXSetupCompReg.exe" (you should notice it directly - it has a black chip as icon). When started, you should see some "Registration success" messages.
